Game Recap

After horrible traffic, including a train delay, drastically altered the Warrior’s normal routine, Cherokee came out angry and looking to send a message to the South Paulding Spartans (1-9). Before the match had even started, Atlanta traffic caused the team to arrive ten minutes before a 5:30 kickoff. Combine that with multiple injuries leading to a drastically different starting lineup, the Warriors needed to come out with the right mindset. Cherokee came out taking the game to South Paulding, creating multiple chances that just missed the frame of the goal. The deadlock was broken by Senior Captain Dakota Stewart midway through the half. Stewart (the Warrior’s leading goal scorer) was able to put back a ricochet off the post for his fifth goal of the season. The score would stay 1-0 into halftime. Tensions would raise during the second half as both teams fought hard for the next goal and officiating left each side frustrated. Dima Lynes (Junior) finished off the game though in the 50th minute with his third goal of the year. Lynes was also responsible for the original shot that led to the first goal of the match. The match would finish 2-0 in favor of the Warriors as Sophomore keeper Govani Hernandez kept the clean sheet. The second win of the week takes Cherokee to 4-7-1 on the year while the loss drops South Paulding to 1-10. This was the Warriors last match before a week off for Spring Break. They will be back at it on Friday April 14th at the home of the Roswell Hornets (5-7-1) as they fight for a State Playoff berth. Make the trip as the Warriors need the support!
