Cherokee High School
The Warriors hosted Woodland in their home opener on Friday night. This was the last match before the break and the third this week for the Warriors. From the start of the game the Warriors were in control and it would stay that way. After failing to convert chances early on, it was midfielder Mara Morrone (Sophomore) who broke the deadlock. It was fellow midfielder Camryn Lopusnak (Junior) who served in a perfect corner kick that Mara finished with a header in the top corner of the goal. Morgan Steinberg (Senior) added to her assist total on the year by picking out Kelsie Marques (Freshman) on a pinpoint cross. The Warriors would take the lead into the half. In the second half the Warriors would continue to dominate play, but were held out of the goal. Emma Shaw (Junior) was able to add to her clean sheet total on the year. The Warriors improve to 1-2-1 on the young season. The next match will be at Sequoyah on the 27th at 5:30pm.
Good Luck to the boys and girls basketball teams tonight as they start their playoff runs!
